Qutub turns green for organ donation

NEW DELHI: The iconic Qutub Minar was on Saturday evening lit up in bright green to highlight the cause of organ donation — conventionally represented by a green ribbon — during the fifth edition of Samarthan, an event organised by NGO Mohan Foundation to raise awareness.Just a few hundred metres away from the monument, the NGO also put up a special exhibition on organ donation to raise awareness about people’s ability to save lives.

Titled ‘Life before ashes’, the exhibition featured artworks from Iran and depicted how organ donation could give life to another individual. Perhaps the most fascinating installations, however, were four organs — made entirely of mud and human ashes to represent the ‘life’ it could give to another, with an underlying message of ‘What have become ashes could have been another human’s heart or kidney, if the organs were donated.’….Readmore
