CHENNAI: Transporting human organs from the donor (cadaver) to the needy may no longer pose a problem in terms of timeliness in Tamil Nadu, particularly in Chennai. City police commissioner T Rajendran has made an assurance that the police would ensure a green corridor’ or a thoroughfare sans obstruction for the purpose.Rajendran was addressing a gathering at Loyola College on Wednesday after flagging off a motorcycle rally organised by the Multi-Organ Harvesting Aid Network (MOHAN) Foundation to promote organ donation.He pointed out that if there was a need to bring organs from various districts in the state, the additional director general of police (law and order) had to be contacted and necessary arrangements would be made.

“A green corridor means that traffic signals would be turned green so that the vehicle carrying the organs does not have to stop. We have done this once before. If needed, we can escort the vehicle, too, so that the organs can reach the destination in time,” Rajendran told TOI, adding that a network of police and doctors would help make organ donation easier…..Readmore
