Plans afoot to rope in more private hospitals, ease process

The organ donation rate in India has increased from 0.08 to almost 0.8 per million population in a span of nine years. But the entire process — from creating awareness about organ donation to identifying donors and motivating families to donate, fulfilling legal formalities and making sure the harvested organ reaches the right people at the right time — has numerous challenges that stakeholders have been facing over the years.
