Imphal, December 23 2017: Saying that the demand for organ donors in the State is huge, Managing Director of Shija Hospital and Research Institute (SHRI) Dr Kh Palin called upon the people to promote and endorse deceased organ donation in the State to save lives of others.Addressing a press conference held at SHRI auditorium today, Dr Palin conveyed that only around 7000 kidney transplantations can be done out of the total requirement of 2 lakh in the country in a year .

He underscored the need to create awareness among the masses about deceased organ donation in order to meet the demand.Stating that live organs of dead people are wasted by burning down or cremating as per one’s customs, he informed that eight live organs can be retrieved from a dead person and the same can be used for restoring lives of eight persons…..Readmore
